Trains cancelled at London Waterloo after person hit by a train

Commuters trying to get into London this morning will face disruption after a person was hit by a train.

The person was hit between Wimbledon and Teddington, and all lines were shut so emergency services can access the railway.

Commuter Tim Pemberton spotted around seven Metropolitan Police cars at Teddington station this morning, and the station also appeared to be closed.

This is causing disruption to several services in and out of London Waterloo, National Rail says, with delays expected to last until at least 10am, majorly impacting the morning rush hour.

While lines reopened at about 7.40am, there will be residual delays and services could still be revised or cancelled.

Trains between Waterloo and Teddington via Richmond, Waterloo and Strawberry Hill via Kingston, and Waterloo and Sheppington are impacted.

A National Rail spokesperson said: ‘We have received reports that a person has been struck by a train between Wimbldon and Teddington.

‘Response teams are working with the emergency services to assist with the incident.

‘In order to allow emergency services access to the railway all power to the track will need to be switched off in the affected area.’

They added that replacement buses will run and call at all stations between Twickenham and Shepperton via Fulwell.

Your tickets will be accepted on the London Underground and London Buses, as well as Falcon Buses 557 and 400 services.

In a separate incident, trains between Clapham Junction/East Croydon and Watford Junction are disrupted due to damage to overhead electric wires.

Trains which would run between East Croydon and Watford Junction or Hemel Hempstead will instead be revised to run between East Croydon and Shepherd’s Bush.

There’s also no service on the London Overground between Wandsworth Road and Clapham Junction – but there’s good service on the rest of the route.

Southern trains won’t call at Wembley Central, Harrow & Wealdstone or Watford Junction, any anyone travelling to or from those stations could face delays of up to 45 minutes as National Rail says to use an alternative route.

Disruption here is expected to last until the end of the day.
