A LAWN expert has shared the pro tip that helps them level uneven yards.
The trick doubles as a growth technique that encourages low spots to come in.
Meyers (@meyers.makes) shared the gardening tip in a viral TikTok video.
“The best way to level a yard is using sand,” he explained.
“It fills in all the low spots, compacts well, and does not wash away.”
The gardener started by wheelbarrowing sand over to the barren spots in his yard.
After multiple trips, he was able to create multiple piles of sand in his yard’s problem spots.
He leveled out the sand with a leveling rake slowly, making sure to cover his entire yard in an even layer.
Meyers explained that the sand doesn’t prevent grass growth and is great as a base for new crops.
“You can grow new grass by putting down seed and topsoil,” he advised.
Two months after putting down the sand, he showed off his “thriving” flat yard.
While many shared alternative suggestions to even out a yard, Meyers explained that sand was the best option.
“I did this with only topsoil and it turned out great,” said one commenter.
He rebutted that topsoil had the downside of washing away with rain.

“My yard is sand and it’s awful. Grass will hardly grow because it’s so dry. Weeds love it and it’s like a giant ant hill,” they explained.
Meyers explained that sand isn’t conducive alone but works great with soil.
“50/50 sand soil works perfectly,” he said.
