THERE’S nothing more frustrating than finally pulling your favourite pair of black jeans on only to find they’ve turned into a sad shade of grey.
Thankfully, one cleaning whizz has shared how to stop it from happening so your jeans can look fresh no matter how often you wash them.
Black jeans are much more likely to discolour when you put them in the washing machine.
And it’s all to do with the dye molecules which can fade from being washed as well as from exposure to sunlight.
However, a Mrs Hinch cleaning fan has revealed how to stop it.
It will set the colour dye!

Mrs Hinch became a famous cleanfluencer after sharing her top cleaning hacks on Instagram and now has millions of adoring fans inspired to share their own tips and tricks.
Taking to Facebook, one asked: “Best way to wash black jeans so they don’t fade?”
The group ‘Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips’ has thousands of people looking for advice from laundry tips to keeping the home tidy.
Fortunately, plenty of cleaning pros took to the comments to share their advice to keep black jeans looking their best.
The post received more than 150 comments from fellow cleaning enthusiasts where many suggested using white vinegar to sort the problem.
You can purchase white vinegar for as lille as 40p from Sainsbury’s.
To do the simple hack you just need to let the jeans soak in vinegar before washing them to set the dye.
One person wrote: “So soak in vinegar for a little while, before you wash them. It will set the colour dye!”
Others suggested adding some vinegar to each wash to stop them from fading over time.
Another commented: “White vinegar works best and is also a disinfectant.”
“Inside out, add white vinegar to your wash,” penned a third.
Others recommended putting them on a cold wash only and to add a small amount of table salt to the cycle.

A fourth said: “I always wash inside out and don’t dry them on the washing line as the sun bleaches the black.”
“In cold water, when you hang them on the clothes line turn them inside out,” claimed a fifth.
Someone else added: “All of the above, first wash use salt. Always wash on cold and inside out. When they do fade, refresh [them] with machine dye.”
