Morning Live’s Gethin Jones ‘breaks down in tears’ as he issues plea to viewers for mental health report.
He has been one of the main faces of the flagship BBC daytime programme since its inception in 2020.
Morning Live posted a short clip of Gethin, 46, on their official account on X, formerly known as Twitter.
In the clip, the former Blue Peter presenter was seen seemingly getting emotional as he candidly spoke to the camera
He said: “It’s a lot, [I’m] just having a few tears just to make myself feel better.
“Because I’ve been out and about asking people about crying, cry-maxing. Are you a ‘cry-maxer’?
“Does crying make you feel good? A recent study suggests that it does. It lets out stress and emotions too.”
They added: ” Does that work for you? Or are you someone that bottles it up inside? Please let us know. I’ve got to go.”
Echoing his words, the show captioned the post: “A recent study suggests that crying lets out stress and emotions.
“Are you a ‘cry-maxer’? Does crying make you feel good? Or do you bottle it up inside? Let us know!”
He later reposted the acted clip on his own account, where he wrote: “Marks out of 10 for my acting?”
Some viewers praised the presenter and the show for highlighting the cause.
One BBC fan stated: “I love a cry. I always feel much better afterwards. it’s such a release and I have much clearer thoughts after a cry followed by some deep breaths!!!”
A second joked: “Gethin deserves an Oscar for this ”.
“I cry at anything & everything. Do feel better after and always have a good nights sleep that night too,” wrote a third.
As a fourth joked: “Give that man an Oscar right now .”
And a fifth jokingly added: “You ok? .”
This comes after he teased another on-screen project that is worlds away from BBC Morning Live.
Gethin took to his Instagram stories as posted a behind-the-scenes backstage video from Richard Osman‘s House of Games.
The Welsh native filmed the show alongside fellow presenter, the original X Factor host Kate Thornton.
