Girl commits suicide in Ghazni province, Afghanistan

Local officials in Ghazni province have reported the suicide of a girl in the province. This incident occurred last night, Tuesday, April 30th in the village of Gadul in the Qarabagh district of Ghazni province.
According to officials, the incident took place precisely when the girl hanged herself, putting an end to her life.
Authorities in Ghazni province identify domestic violence as the primary cause of this suicide.
This comes as similar cases of suicide have been reported from Ghazni province before. Just a few days ago, a man in the Ejristan district of Ghazni province also ended his life.
Since regime change in August 2021, Afghanistan has seen a surge in suicides, primarily due to severe restrictions on women’s rights. Economic instability worsens the situation, exacerbating the dire humanitarian crisis.
Restricted access to education, employment, and movement for women fuels despair. Economic hardships, worsened by Taliban rule, push many towards suicide.
Taliban’s oppressive directives create fear and uncertainty, deepening the crisis. Lack of basic freedoms and rights intensifies despair, leading to increased suicide rates in Afghanistan.
It is noteworthy that the main cause of most suicide cases in Afghanistan is attributed to domestic violence.
