PSU closed for second day as Millar Library remains occupied by protesters
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- Portland State University campus is closed for a second day, while protesters calling for a ceasefire in Gaza are still holding out inside Millar Library.
The occupation began late Monday when after the main crowds dispersed for the evening, a smaller group of protesters broke into the Library and barricaded themselves inside.
KOIN 6 News reporter Elise Haas got an exclusive look inside the library Tuesday night, finding graffiti, broken glass and smashed computers.
There is still no word on when Portland police will clear the protestors, however, police drones were spotted flying overhead around 11 p.m.
In an announcement Tuesday, PSU President Ann Cudd said she has requested that Portland police remove the "trespassers" inside the library and called for the immediate end to the standoff.
An emergency Board of Trustees Executive Meeting was held Tuesday night where reporters were allowed to listen in but could not report specifics, during the event Cudd briefed the board on the general topic of the timeline of the protest and events.
