Bank holiday weekend weather set to be a ‘mixed bag’ – but at least it’s warm

Up Next

Bank holiday revelers should brace for a smorgasbord of weather in the UK this weekend.

At least it is set to be anything but boring – especially if you are planning a barbeque.

The Met Office revealed even the forecaster did not know the full weather details ahead of the much-anticipated long weekend.

Saturday is expected to be cloud in northern parts of the UK, while the south, Wales and Midlands kick the weekend off with a clear sky.

But sadly that will not last as patchy rain moves in over most of the country, while temperatures can reach up to 18°C.

On Sunday, people in London and most of the south should carry umbrellas as rainfall is expected – although the temperatures remain warm.

The driest parts will be in northern England and the west coast of Scotland, the Met Office said.

Deputy Chief Meteorologist Mark Sidaway said: ‘While things remain unsettled with further showers or longer spells of rain for some, all areas should see some drier conditions and sunshine at some point and, in that sunshine, it should feel quite warm.

‘It really will depend on where you are geographically as to what weather you might experience. But for the exact details for your area, stay up to date with forecast over the coming days.’

Bank holiday Monday continues in a similar trend with showers, and proper rain in the south, with some ‘decent spells of sunshine in between,’ the forecaster said.

It comes after a week of thunderstorms and heavy rain that caused damage to some buildings and a landslide.

On Friday evening, the Met Office warned gardeners of possible overnight frost in known hotspots in the south.

With the relatively warm weather, pollen count is set to be high in South West, London and South East, East of England and East Midlands on Saturday.
