'They have jobs': Ex-Trump adviser flails as CNN's Acosta notes family trial absence
CNN host Jim Acosta raised an eyebrow — and seemed highly skeptical — after a former Donald Trump adviser attempted to explain why his ex-boss' family, with exception of Eric Trump, is nowhere to be seen as he faces the prospect of going to prison.
Speaking with conservative David Urban, who was part of Trump's 2026 presidential campaign, the CNN host focused in on Melania Trump, Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner for not only their lack of public support, but for being AWOL in the Manhattan courtroom.
"Why haven't the Trump family members been in the courtroom with them?" Acosta asked.

"Jim, I don't have an answer for you on that, right?" Urban attempted. "I've not discussed it with them. Obviously, there have been certain members of the [Trump campaign] team there on a day-to-day basis. My guess is that, you see an Eric there once in a while, but, you know, people, people have jobs that they're going about and and maybe, the political strategy and the legal strategy is not to have the family there. I'm not privy to the inner machinations of this court case."
"Listen, the entire family is completely supportive of the former president," Urban added which led to Acosta's eyebrow-raising as Urban added, "By no means does their absence mean they are not supporting him."
"Yeah, "the CNN host replied after a pause before asking, "Fully supportive? I don't know. We haven't seen Ivanka and Jared in there, have we, we haven't, I mean..."
"Yeah, I would keep some distance," Urban interjected. "Yeah, I don't listen. I don't think that that means that they're not supportive of their father or father-in-law. I spent some time with Melania few weeks down at Mar-a-Lago, she seemed to be in a good place for my judgment."
