Dermatologist Dr. Azadeh Shirazi warns against two ‘burning’ skincare myths[/caption]Dr. Azadeh Shirazi shares skincare and wellness tips online as a medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology specialist.
She previously spoke to The U.S. Sun about a feminine item she used for anti-aging and her DIY beauty methods.
Now, she revealed a few common myths that beauty fans should avoid.
NO NONSENSE
First, the expert debunked the misconception that if your products sting or burn then that must mean it’s working.
That couldn’t be further from the truth, according to Dr. Shirazi.
She said that it actually means that your skin is severely irritated by the ingredients.
The second had to do with SPF usage and how you should pay attention to it.
She admitted that many people who don’t visibly sunburn feel like they don’t need to wear sunscreen or, for example, if it’s after 3 pm, they don’t need it.
How do UV rays damage skin and cause aging?
“UVA rays are present all day and they penetrate the skin deeper than burning UV rays,” Board-certified dermatologist Dr. Shirazi said.
When it comes to maintaining a youthful appearance, she explained that excessive sun exposure can also “degrade your collagen and cause discoloration.”
She added that they can cause damage to your skin’s DNA and lead to an increased risk of cancer.

LINES & LESSONS
Dr. Shirazi also shared some makeup tips to look younger.
“To avoid cakey makeup, first mist the skin with thermal spring water or just water and apply a few drops of Hyaluronic acid serum,” she advised.
She recommended the Loreal 1.5% Pure Hyaluronic Acid Serum to get the job done.
After you set your base, she suggested applying your foundation and makeup for a dewy hydrated, and smoother appearance.
The skincare guru also had a method to disguise stubborn dark under-eye circles.
“First apply a copper or orange color corrector before applying your concealer,” she explained.
Dr. Shirazi admitted that she uses EyeGlow AM with a copper color tone, which doubles as a hydrating peptide serum with SPF50.
Lastly, she said to avoid wearing mascara or eyeliner on the lower lash line if you want a brighter under-eye.

UNCONVENTIONAL METHODS
Dr. Shirazi also shared a few additional beauty tips to look your best all around.
She recommended incorporating Rogaine Minoxidil Solution into your regimen three to five times a week to grow your eyebrows.
She also suggested adding a little lactic acid cream, or Amlactin, to your lips before applying Vaseline and keeping it on overnight.
“It makes them soft and smooth in the morning and allows lipstick to go one nicer,” she explained.
