Angelina Jolie’s Former Security Guard’s Claims About Her Parenting Make Legal Battles With Brad Pitt Even Messier
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s ongoing whining about wine has led to a damning revelation about Jolie. The A-lister and ex-husband Brad Pitt are (still!) battling it out for Chateau Miraval in France, a shared estate that produces award-winning sparkling rosé.
Court documents have been obtained by multiple news outlets that include information from the estranged couple’s custody battle. (Reminder: They share Maddox, 22, Pax, 20, Zahara, 19, Shiloh, 17, and 15-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox.) Very basically, Pitt’s lawyers are trying to showcase Jolie’s past understanding of and use of non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) for the purposes of their chateau argument.
And so, what has come to light — per Us Weekly, People, Entertainment Tonight, and more — is that Jolie allegedly tried to drive a wedge between her children and Pitt. Are you ready for this twisty, turny tidbit that just makes the former couple’s messy legal battles even messier?
OK. Here we go.
Tony Webb — Pitt’s current security guard and Jolie’s former security guard — wrote a 12-page statement for the courts. In it, he claimed that the actress’ aide, Michael Vieira, called him during the custody battle and tried to get his help dissuading two bodyguards who had worked for Jolie from testifying.
“I explained to Mr. Vieira that I had no power to stop them because they were independent contractors and not employees,” Webb said in the statement.
“[He] then told me that his call should serve as a reminder that those individuals had entered into non-disclosure agreements with Ms. Jolie and that I should remind them of that and tell them that if they testified in the family law case, Ms. Jolie would sue them,” Webb continued.
Which is pretty common. Most (if not all) employees of celebrities have to sign NDAs agreeing not to publicly share information about the celebrities and their households. But Webb said that one bodyguard, Rob Foster, said he would break the NDA and testify if subpoenaed.
“When Mr. Foster told me this, he also told me that if asked, he would testify about statements he overheard that Ms. Jolie made to the children, encouraging them to avoid spending time with Mr. Pitt during custody visits.”
Oof. If Foster’s allegations are true, it’s not a great look for the Eternals star. And it’s probably not something the judge took kindly to.
That said, when Jolie filed for divorce in 2016, she alleged that the Bullet Train actor physically abused her and their kid(s). So can you really blame her for allegedly not wanting her kids to spend time with him?
Jolie and Pitt’s custody battle has been ongoing. As of last month, Jolie had primary custody of their minor children (Shiloh and the twins). Despite what the courts say, it sounds like the Jolie-Pitt kids have chosen sides, so to speak.
All we can hope for now is that the wine business is settled soon and the family can finally find some peace.
