Trump loyalist Rick Scott refuses to answer if he thinks ex-president is lying: reporter
Florida Republican Sen. Rick Scott flew to Manhattan with Donald Trump on Thursday to attend his criminal proceedings and speak out in support. But when it came time for Scott to reveal where he stands, there were no answers.
Trump is charged with 34 felonies involving the falsification of business records around a hush money payment to conceal an alleged affair. Trump maintains his innocence and claims he never had the affair.
Scott is in a tough reelection with a well-funded Democratic opponent and an abortion freedom measure on the ballot. Having Trump's support will likely help his reelection efforts.

When the trial had a lunch break, Scott walked outside to a bank of microphones, where he told the press that the judge and prosecutors were all corrupt. He then attacked the judge's daughter.
“This is just a bunch of Democrats saying we want to make sure that Donald Trump can’t talk,” Scott said. “Then they’ve got a gag order, so he can’t go campaign. They’ve got him holed up in a courtroom.”
Nothing is stopping Trump from campaigning. When court is not in session, Trump flew home to Mar-a-Lago and didn't have any events.
Scott was asked if he was there to say what Trump cannot. He swore that his presence had nothing to do with the gag order. If Trump asked him to speak out, however, it would be a violation of the order.
When asked about where he stands on the case itself, Scott didn't want to say.
"So, yesterday when Rick Scott was down at the courthouse I asked him, do you believe Stormy Daniels or Donald Trump?" NBC News reporter Vaughn Hillyard recalled asking. "He didn't answer and said he said this is a records case, right?"
"Okay?" host Nicolle Wallace laughed.
Hillyard explained that the presence of many of the Republican allies is about "standing in solidarity with Donald Trump. And this is the part that is politically difficult here for Republicans is that this is their leading man. He's going to campaign up and down and around the country. We're less than six months out until the general election and this case will be a factor."
