Miranda Lambert Reportedly Went To Extreme Lengths To Avoid Blake Shelton at the 2024 ACM Awards
Seeing an ex nine years after a spit shouldn’t be a big deal, right? Well, for Miranda Lambert and ex-husband Blake Shelton, it might not be that simple.
At the Academy of Country Music Awards on May 16, both Lambert and Shelton, who were married from 2011 until 2015, attended the event and star-studded red carpet. Lambert, who wore a plunging black gown with turquoise jewels, attended the event with her husband Brendan McLoughlin. Shelton, for his part, attended the event and even performed with his wife Gwen Stefani.
But, despite the exes being there with their current significant others, Lambert reportedly went to extreme lengths to prevent them from having an unexpected run-in.
“They really did not want to have to meet up during some massive event with all those eyes on them so they kept their distance,” a source told Daily Mail on May 17.
Despite the efforts, the insider reiterated that Lambert and Shelton have “no bad blood, really.” “Miranda just didn’t want to make a big scene so she avoided Blake,” the source added. “But she is definitely on civil terms with Blake and is happy for him.”
And while Lambert may have swiftly avoided small talk with her ex and Stefani on the red carpet, they definitely saw each other throughout the awards show. At one point in the show, Shelton and Stefani took the stage and performed their newest song together, “Purple Irises.” And, at another point, Lambert took the stage to sing her powerful new anthem “Wranglers.”
Looking at her inspiration for the song, the lyrics might even be a nod to Shelton. “I think we can all identify with the character in this song because we have all had a time in our life where we needed to find our strength, and also get a little revenge on someone who did us wrong or hurt us,” she said in a statement when the song was released, per Rolling Stone. “This offers such a cool, raging take on how something like this unravels.”
Looks like even if they try, Lambert and Shelton will always be in the same circles!
