Asda recalls popular household item over fears it will set on fire
Asda has recalled a household device it sells in its UK stores over fears it could set of fire.
The supermarket has recalled the Goblin handheld vacuum offering a refund to all customers who have bought one.
If left on charge, the product is at risk of setting on fire.
Asda said: ‘Asda has determined that in some units of the Goblin handheld Vacs, the battery may overheat and could pose a fire safety risk if left on charge and unattended.
‘Stop using the unit and return it to your nearest Asda store for a full refund or exchange. We are very sorry for any inconvenience caused.
‘If you would like any further information, please contact Asda Customer Relations on 0800 952 0101.’
The affected model is the Goblin GHV102W-20 White Mini Handheld Cordless Vacuum with barcode 5057172148660 and the site codes 15A.08.20.115, 15A.10.21.181 and 15A.09.22.168.
Asda has confirmed 5A.09.22.168A is not included in the recall.
The vacuums are sold for £18 in the store.
Tesco has issued an urgent recall on one of its most popular lunchtime products over fears it may contain ‘pieces of glass’.
The supermarket giant has told customers not to eat its own-brand sandwich pickle spread because ‘possible presence of glass makes it unsafe to eat’.
A recall notice has been issued for 295g jars of Tesco Sandwich Pickle with batch code 3254 and a best-before date of September 11, 2025.
A Tesco spokesperson said: ‘We are aware a specific date/batch code of Tesco Sandwich Pickle 295g jar may contain small pieces of glass.
‘Therefore, this product could pose a safety risk if consumed. Please do not consume this product.
‘Instead, return any affected product to the store where a full refund will be given.
‘No receipt is required. Tesco apologises to our customers for any inconvenience caused.’
