I turned my old garage into luxury studio flat for family to live rent-free – we saved hundreds with six huge bargains
A CRAFTY mum revealed how she saved hundreds on six essential items for her converted studio flat.
Agnes Mann documented the transformation journey on her YouTube channel, which showed how she turned her old garage into a luxurious studio flat.
It cost the mum just under £25,000 to do the conversion, but she claimed to have saved hundreds with six huge bargains.
The majority of the money was spent towards materials and the labourers.
She kitted out her converted flat with items you can find on Amazon.
Agnes purchased a pocket-sprung single mattress from the site which is currently on offer on a six per cent discount for £120.
This is more than £100 cheaper compared to similar mattresses found on Dreams and Benson for Beds.
In the video, Agnes explained that she decided to convert her garage into a living space as a family member moved into her house and needed their own space.
The space has now been completely transformed and it’s hard to believe that it used to be a dingy garage.
She purchased a three-panel wall art from the online retailer for less than £40.
This could’ve been significantly more if she had bought it from an art shop.
Agnes’ video gained a lot of traction with a whopping 66,000 views.
YouTube users raced to the video’s comments to share their thoughts on the garage conversion.
One user said: “Damn what a transformation.”
“This is an adorable addition to your home,” another wrote.
A third added: “You’ve done a great job.”
The mum YouTuber also bought a fridge, microwave, bed frame and curtains from the popular online retailer.
However, these items are currently unavailable and it is unclear when they’ll be back in stock.
For the bathroom, Agnes used black and white flooring from Wickes and covered the walls with matte grey tiling.
The main room is 5.5m by 2.5m, but the small space is packed with the items she got from Amazon.
Agnes explained that she did not need to get planning permission to convert the garage but that they had to get their proposals reviewed by a building inspector.
She said that the project took just three months to complete.
“I’m really happy with the finishing touches and the standard that it’s been completed to”, she said.
She revealed that in the future she may decide to rent out the liveable space via Airbnb.
