Herkimer Police make arrests in stabbing incident
HERKIMER, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Herkimer Police Department announced the arrest of two in connection with a stabbing incident that happened in the area of Mohawk Street Bridge near the Thruway. Tylor Waufle, 29, of Herkimer, and Joshua Eckhard, 31, of Little Falls, were arrested and face multiple charges.
Charges
Waufle:
- Second-degree attempted murder
- Second-degree assault with intent to cause physical injury with a weapon or instrument
- Second-degree assault with intent to cause injury to an officer
- Third-degree criminal possession of a weapon with a previous conviction
- Fourth-degree conspiracy
- Resisting arrest
- Second-degree obstructing governmental administration
Eckhard:
- Second-degree attempted murder
- Second-degree assault with intent to cause physical injury with a weapon or instrument
- Fourth-degree conspiracy
- Fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon
Herkimer Police responded to reports of a stabbing in the area on May 18 around 12:30 a.m. where they reported finding a man with stab wounds to his chest and midsection. Police say the victim was transported to the Wynn Hospital with life-threatening injuries and then transported to a Syracuse hospital in critical condition.
Police report receiving a description of two attackers where they were then able to find a man fitting the description of one of them and was found with a bloody knife. He allegedly resisted arrest and injured an officer's hand and wrist before being transported to the station.
The second suspect was found shortly after and transported to the station as well. They were both arraigned and placed in Herkimer County Correctional Facility in place of bail.
