Max Verstappen Back to Winning Ways, Holds Off Late Charge From Lando Norris
Delhi: Defending Formula One World Champion Max Verstappen returned to winning ways in the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix after missing out on the win in the Miami Grand Prix. Verstappen held off a late charge from McLaren driver Lando Norris to secure the win.
Verstappen Wins, Lando Settles for 2nd Place
Max Verstappen enjoyed a comfortable drive around the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix as he held a comfortable lead over all the other drivers. During the later stages of the race, the McLaren of Lando Norris started to close the gap to Verstappen by cutting through his lead and his time advantage. Oversteer and old tyres proved to be an obstacle for Norris as he almost came also to catching Verstappen and taking the lead. The Dutch driver was able to hold off the McLaren driver and win the race. Lando closed the gap to Verstappen to 0.725s but could not capitalize on the win.
More Points For Ferrari
Charles Leclerc of Ferrari took the final podium position finishing the race P3. Him and his teammate were separated by Oscar Piastri in 4th place as Carlos Sainz finished 5th. Ferrari took a total of 25 points from the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix thus keeping Ferrari in a secure position in the second place in the Constructors Championship. Mercedes took home points too as Lewis Hamilton and Geroge Russel finished 6th and 7th respectively.
Christian Horner Full Of Praises After Imola Win
Red Bull Racing Team Principle Christian Horner was full of praises after Verstappen was able to drive his Red Bull to victory. Horner cited that Verstappen had worked extremely hard for the race win. Horner said this about his driver-
“When you look at the turnaround we had from Friday into Saturday to get the pole and to get the victory again today, it’s been a phenomenal performance and turnaround by the team but also Max has been incredible this weekend, and again he’s had to work very hard for the pole and the victory. “I think he’s had a very busy weekend because he’s also competed in the 24 hours of Nurburgring [sim race] as well as being in the car, so he’s won two races today, one in a BMW M3 and one in a Formula 1 car. Max this weekend, you heard what it meant to him, the pole position yesterday he had to dig very deep and the performance today was a masterclass.”
