A hearing held by the Texas Medical Board highlighted the confusion that still exists among doctors, lawyers and advocates about how to interpret the state's the new abortion laws. The medical board has proposed guidance to clarify some of that uncertainty, but five hours of testimony on Monday and hundreds of written comments later, it seems no one is particularly pleased with their first attempt. The board is considering testimony and written comments on the guidance ahead of its June meeting, and will either put forward the existing proposal for a vote, or start the public comment process over again with revised guidance.
