Man Utd forced to sell players after modest summer transfer budget unveiled - report

Manchester United have a little more than £35 million in cash to spend in the summer transfer window.

According to the Daily Mail, INEOS expect to raise more funds by selling players or agreeing swap deals.

The upcoming summer window will mark the first one for Sir Jim Ratcliffe at United since his minority takeover earlier this year.

The Red Devils have invested heavily over the past few seasons but their recruitment has been awful.

Recruitment is critical to Man United’s success

INEOS must sell a few players to boost the transfer budget because £35m is not good enough to bring United back to the glory path.

The Red Devils need to bolster their squad to remain competitive amidst the rising challenges in the Premier League.

Strengthening defence must be United’s priority. Raphael Varane has announced his departure from Old Trafford.

Jonny Evans could follow in Varane’s footsteps. Victor Lindelof’s United future is also in doubt.

Harry Maguire has revived his career over the last ten months and his place looks much more assured than last summer.

However, a tempting offer might force United to cash in on the England international.

Signing a defensive midfielder will be INEOS’ second priority. 

Casemiro is past his best and Christian Eriksen could be on his way out. The experiment of signing Sofyan Amrabat on loan has also not panned out as hoped.

A holding midfielder is crucial for United to bring balance to their side.

Scoring goals has been challenging for the Red Devils. Marcus Rashford blasted 30 goals in Erik ten Hag’s first season.

However, his dip in form left United exposed at the front this term.

Rasmus Hojlund has enormous potential but cannot carry the goalscoring burden alone.

INEOS must offload their star players or turn to player swaps as a strategic manoeuvre to meet United’s squad requirements.
