Anya Taylor-Joy Explains Why She Didn't Shave Her Head for 'Furiosa,' Shares Wild Story About Being Scouted to Model
Anya Taylor-Joy opened up during a conversation with her Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga costar Chris Hemsworth for Vogue Australia.
In the newly released interview, the 28-year-old actress revealed that she had wanted to shave her head for the movie. However, one person refused to let that happen.
She also shared a wild story about being scouted to model before breaking into Hollywood.

Anya told Chris that she was “so f-cking psyched” to shave her head for the role. However, director George Miller quickly shut the idea down.
“I have been wanting to do it forever, my whole life. Other people have an attachment to my hair and that’s like, ‘F-ck you, I want it gone,’” she said. “I called up everyone on my team, called up Dior, called up Tiffany, and I was like, ‘Listen, I’m gonna be bald, and it’s gonna be great.’”
What killed the idea? “George saw me, and he just grabbed my hair and went, ‘Oh, it’s too beautiful. We can’t cut it.’”
On how she was discovered, Anya recalled that she was on the street when a man started following her in his car.
“I remember I was about to go to my first grown-up party and I was wearing my mum’s heels because I wanted to practice and I had to get it right. Such an intense child. I thought this car was following me and I was like, Anya, your parents are watching too much 24, there’s no way this is happening. And as I started to run and the car picked up speed I was like, oh no, it’s happening! And then this guy stuck his head out the window and screamed, ‘If you stop, you won’t regret it,’” she said, prompting Chris to describe the behavior as “101 bad guy.”
Despite the situation being scary at first, Anya was driven to accept the offer as it took her a step closer to her overall goal of acting.
“I just stopped, and when he explained modelling, I’d never considered modelling before, but I’d heard of models who’d become actors, so I’m going to follow this,” she said.
