Girls Aloud slash ticket prices by 50% days before gig in desperate bid to fill huge venue

TICKET prices for the Girls Aloud comeback tour have been slashed in a bid to fill stadiums.

Band members Cheryl, Nicola Roberts, Kimberley Walsh and Nadine Coyle have reunited after 11 years for 30 shows in the UK and Ireland.

However, it appears not everything is going as planned as ticket prices were reduced by 50%.

The decision has upset ardent fans of Girls Aloud, who had already spent between £58 and £200 on tickets for upcoming shows across the UK.

This includes major cities including London, Manchester, Nottingham, Sheffield and Aberdeen.

The half-price deal is being offered on Ticketmaster until next Tuesday.

Fans have taken to social media to express their fury over their situation.

Writing on X (formerly Twitter), one user raged: “Ok can someone please explain to me how @nottinghamarena is getting away with selling Girls Aloud tickets at 50 percent off?

“For a better viewing seat to us who paid double. Fuming!!! At least move the people who paid more to the better seats, before doing this??!!!”

Another agreed, as they commented:”‘I got girls aloud tickets two f****** days ago and now the evil Ticketmaster has put them on bloody half price. @NadineCoyleNow do something!!!!”

A third chimed in: “The cheek of the Ticketmaster 50% off girls aloud tickets promo when we were all in the ticketing trenches paying a ton a few months ago.”

Not everyone opposed the decision, however, as another user defended the respective points of view.

They wrote: “I can see both sides of the argument. Everyone wants to see as full as possible arena for the girls though and it shouldn’t be about money for fans – at the time you felt it was a price worth paying?”

First announced last November, the long-awaited reunion tour included two shows in Dublin and Belfast earlier this week.

At their Dublin show, the girls paid tribute to former bandmate Sarah Harding, who tragically lost her battle with breast cancer three years ago.

Nadine addressed the audience at Dublin’s 3Arena, saying: “We’re going to do a duet with Sarah tonight. It’s going to be us, Sarah, you. Let’s do this together.”

The moving tribute incorporated Sarah’s vocals, while images of her were shown on a screen behind the band.

Together, they all sang their cover of I’ll Stand By You which became their second number-one in 2004.

Girls Aloud rose to fame more than two decades ago when they took part in the ITV reality show Popstars: The Rivals in 2002.

They triumphed over a boy band from the show named One True Voice.with their single Sound Of The Underground.

The band went on to have three more number ones and 20 top ten hits.
