No T20 World Cup 2024-Bound Indian Cricketer In IPL 2024 Final After Rajasthan Royals Succumb Vs Sunrisers Hyderabad
New Delhi: Sunrisers Hyderabad beating Rajasthan Royals in Qualifier 2 on Friday meant there will be no T20 World Cup 2024-bound players in the Indian Premier League final set to take place on May 26 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Coming into the IPL 2024 playoffs, a total of five players from the Indian T20 World Cup side were in the mix – two from Royal Challengers Bengaluru and three from Rajasthan Royals. Although Kolkata Knight Riders batter Rinku Singh will be on the flight to USA and West Indies, the southpaw is a part of a four-member travelling reserve squad.
Unfortunately, no player from KKR and Sunrisers Hyderabad has been picked in India’s T20 World Cup squad. Earlier, Virat Kohli and Mohammed Siraj were a part of RCB that lost to Rajasthan Royals in Eliminator. The Rajasthan Royals squad included three T20 World Cup-bound players in captain Sanju Samson, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Yuzvendra Chahal. However, none could make a mark as the 2008 champions lost to SRH by 36 runs that ended their IPL 2024 campaign.
Earlier, it was reported that the Indian team will be travelling to USA and West Indies in two batches. The first batch is set to depart on May 25, that will include players who were a part of the IPL 2024 playoffs along with the support staff. The second batch will travel after the IPL 2024 final.
India are placed in Group A of the tournament alongside arch-rivals Pakistan, Ireland, Canada and co-hosts USA. The Men in Blue begin their campaign on June 5 against Ireland at the newly-constructed Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York before they take on Pakistan in one of the most-awaited matches four days later. India play USA (June 12) and Canada (June 15) next.
