Olesen and Driscoll Earn PING/GCAA All-Region
FAYETTEVILLE – Razorback seniors Jacob Skov Olesen and John Driscoll III were named to the 2024 NCAA Division I PING All-Central Region team, the Golf Coaches Association of America has announced.
The duo are the 20th and 21st Razorbacks to be named All-Region and give Arkansas 37 total honors since its inception in 1991. Head coach Brad McMakin now has 19 players earn All-Region at Arkansas for a combined 35 honors. It is the 17th consecutive year a Razorback has been selected All-Region and the 14 time at least two Razorbacks were honored in the same year.
Both players ranked among the NCAA top 50 with Olesen ranking 15th and Driscoll ranking 49th.
Olesen, who was also named All-Region in 2021, has been selected for the 2024 Arnold Palmer Cup and he earned first team All-SEC this season. Olesen became the first Razorback to finish the season with a scoring average below 70 with his record-setting, single-season stroke average of 69.94 (2,238 over 32 rounds). The previous record was 70.38, set by Julian Perico in 2019-20. He additionally set the school record for rounds in the 60’s with 16 and tied the school record for rounds at par or better with 24. (Craig Lile also had 24 in 1999-00.) He finished among the top 15 in each of his last 11 events, including three top-5’s.
Dricsoll was second on the team with his 70.77 scoring average, which ranks third on the Arkansas single-season scoring list. He also ranked second on the team in rounds in the 60’s (10) – which ranks T-7th on school’s single-season list – and rounds at par or better (20) – which ranks T-13th on the single-season list. He had five top-10’s including a win at the Blessings Collegiate Invitational.
