The Spirit of Speed: TAG Heuer Revs up with Monaco Chronograph Skeleton
Precision and performance in fractions of a second are ideals that play an equally important role in the world of Formula 1 and timekeeping. This symbiosis has given rise to some of the most famous watch models. One of the most popular is the TAG Heuer Monaco, which was first presented 55 years ago and has never left the racetrack since.
The latest addition to the iconic collection, the TAG Heuer Monaco Chronograph Skeleton, once again reflects the brand’s commitment to precision engineering and avant-garde aesthetics. Its skeletonized dial, a nod to the lightweight theme important in the world of racing, offers a glimpse of the watch’s sophisticated mechanics by highlighting the automatic Calibre Heuer 02 that powers it. Introduced in 2019 to celebrate the Monaco’s 50th anniversary, this chronograph movement offers an impressive 80-hour power reserve.
The dark blue theme of the luminescent dial pays tribute to the racing tradition of the Principality of Monaco, with a contemporary twist. The choice of color is a nod to the Mediterranean coast where one of the world’s most prestigious races is held. The touches of yellow on the hands and hour markers provide a vibrant contrast, evoking the sparks that fly from racing cars at high speed.
The square case, water-resistant to 100 meters, is made of lightweight titanium/DLC in the classic Monaco diameter of 39 mm. It is equipped with an exhibition case back that reveals the high-end finishing details, including a partially skeletonized rotor reminiscent of a steering wheel.
The TAG Heuer Monaco Chronograph Skeleton is attached to a blue rubber/leather strap and scheduled to be available in May 2024 with a sticker price of CHF 11,000.
