'Someone stop him!' Frustration mounts over new delay in Trump's Georgia election case

Donald Trump's Georgia election racketeering case almost certainly will not begin before Americans head to the polls to vote for the 47th president, according to legal experts and reports.

That's because a new decision from the Georgia Court of Appeals to tentatively schedule for Oct. 4 oral arguments on an appeal challenging Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis' right to prosecute the case, the Associated Press reported Monday.

"The court will then have until mid-March to rule," the report notes, "meaning the election interference case almost certainly won’t go to trial before the November general election for which Trump is the presumptive Republican nominee."

Willis faces potential ouster after admitting to a prior personal relationship with special prosecutor Nathan Wade, who left the case after Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee ruled on the matter in March.

Trump's lawyer Steven Sadow took to X to celebrate the news.

“We look forward to presenting arguments before Judges Brown, Markle, and Land on why this case should be dismissed and Fulton County DA Willis should be disqualified for the trial court’s acknowledged ‘odor of mendacity’ misconduct in violation of the Georgia Rules of Professional Conduct," he wrote.

But many expressed how fed-up they are over the lengthy time before justice might be meted out.

"Trump used the powers of his office to pressure Georgia’s election officials to overturn their election results," replied former U.S. Rep. Joe Walsh. "He should have already been put on trial for this charge. He’s successfully delayed it & pushed it past this year’s election."

"No surprise," @CrazyFenaker posted on Twitter/X. "There was no way regardless that a case of this size and complexity would ever have happened before the election."

Dawn-Marie saw yet another Trump win. "Trump’s middle name is delay," her tweet reads. "It’s how he gets away with not paying people for their work — they bring him to court, & he files a ton of appeals. Someone stop him!"

Alamo_On_The_Rise blames the fact that various law enforcement deciders postponed too long before formally bringing charges against the 45th president. "Trump should have been charged back in 2021 on all these crimes. The foot dragging was intentional, and here's the result."

"Terrible," @KanKansi stated. "But the good thing is, after November he will have ample free time to appear in any and every court."

Michael Gerdes wondered why Trump, who proclaims innocence, keeps trying to push back his trial dates.

"An innocent person prefers to fight to clear their name as quickly as possible, while a guilty person prefers to delay the inevitable outcome of a conviction," reads his tweet.

"Not difficult to figure which category Donald Trump falls into, but it’s sad there are activist judges assisting him."
