The Serpent actress Ellie Bamber transforms into Kate Moss in first look at supermodel biopic as filming gets underway
THE Serpent star Ellie Bamber looked completely unrecognisable as she transformed into catwalk queen Kate Moss for a new biopic.
The Surrey-born actress, 27, donned a skin-fit sequin dress with a plunging neckline while stepping out to film scenes for the much-anticipated movie.
Ellie styled her blonde locks into tight corkscrew curls partially held back with a clip as she got stuck into a lively section of the script showing Kate’s 30t birthday celebrations at Claridge’s.
She looked the spitting image of Croydon model Kate, 50, in her heyday, finishing off her bod copy-cat look with blue eyeshadow and a slick of nude gloss.
Later on in the first look scene, she was captured puffing away on a cigarette as she continued her in-character role.
The upcoming biopic, entitled Moss and Freud, will centre on Kate’s decision to pose for a nude painting by Lucian Freud in 2002.
As well as the artwork, it will centre on how the sitting changed their lives.
The piece in question later went to sell at Christie’s auction house for £3.9million.
Kate, who is an executive producer on the biopic, had a leading role in choosing Ellie to play her.
The former Calvin Klein model previously told The Guardian: ““As this is such a personal story of mine, it has been essential that I be involved with James in all aspects as the project has developed.
“I am thrilled by the recent casting and excited that the film will begin shooting soon.
“I cannot wait to see it.”
OPENING UP
Previously, Kate opened up about the artwork to a press conference.
The painting sees her posing stark naked on a bed, perched on a white pillow.
Her hair is swept back and her toned body on full display as she lies sprawled across the sheets.
Kate previously said of the piece: “He [artist Lucian] didn’t really like the picture, and I didn’t really.
“I mean, I had a great time.
“It’s not, like, my favourite Lucian painting.”
SCREEN QUEEN
Meanwhile, actress Ellie’s film debut was in The Falling in 2014, in which she played a schoolgirl.
During the same year, she played loveable Lydia Bennett in Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.
Lydia is perhaps best known for her role in Tom Ford’s Nocturnal Animals, in which she played Jake Gyllenhaal and Isla Fisher’s daughter.
In 2018, she starred in The Nutcracker and the Four Realms, Taipei and Extracurricular Activities.
Back in 2021, she took on the role of Angela Knippenberg in The Serpent.
She told how she had to “learn Thai like a song” as well as perfect a German accent for the BBC’s gritty thriller series.
Ellie previously opened up on perfecting her skills for the role and told ITV’s Lorraine show: “It was definitely difficult, I had an amazing acting coach in the UK who helped me with my German accent and I had a local Thai teacher.
“With Thai I leaned it like a song, I was in my hotel room trying to learn it like a song.
“It always modulates, Thai there’s an upward inflection and downward inflections so it was really helpful.”
