Britain’s Got Talent judge ‘DROPPED from panel’ in shock show shake-up with top TV star lined up as possible replacement
BRUNO Tonioli is set to be dropped from Britain’s Got Talent — with Alan Carr a potential replacement.
The ITV show is changing dates as part of a £100million shake-up, leading to a filming clash for Dancing with the Stars judge Bruno, 68.
A source said of the former Strictly panellist: “Once it became clear auditions were starting in October, as opposed to January as per the previous 17 series, it became clear Bruno may not be able to take part.
“He’s committed to the US, but the new format for BGT is non-negotiable because the show will effectively be replacing Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway.
“Bruno has been a real hit with his fellow judges and viewers so it would be incredibly sad to see him go.”
It could mean an opening for Alan, 48, who was reportedly in talks with Simon Cowell last year about joining before Bruno got the coveted judging role.
He has also worked on BBC travel shows with BGT panellist Amanda Holden.
The source said “conversations have only just begun”.
But they went on: “Alan Carr is a name that has been mooted – his chemistry with Amanda is already a winning formula – and he would bring a fantastic comic edge to the panel.
“A decision will have to be made in the coming weeks.”
The talent show is reaching the end of its five-year contract in 2025.
Recent series have run from mid-April to early June, but it will now be screened later in the year, replacing Saturday Night Takeaway.
