Hudson Falls High School to introduce new schedule

HUDSON FALLS, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Hudson Falls High School is revising its 2024-25 school year schedule. This new schedule includes an earlier morning warning bell, an extra lunch period, an earlier dismissal time, and the introduction of Tiger Time.

The school says that the schedule will be the same format as the 2023-2024 school year with four blocks per day and half blocks for labs and gym classes. The main differences lie within the start and end times of the high school.

The current schedule has a warning bell at 7:57 a.m. with the first block starting at 8:01 a.m. Next year, the warning bell will be at 7:30 a.m. and the first block will start at 7:35 a.m.

Bus routes will start 10 minutes earlier for middle and high school runs with the high school doors opening at 7:20 a.m. Breakfast will still be available each morning from the opening of the doors to the start of the first block.

While the 2023-2024 high school schedule had only two lunch periods, next year's schedule with have three. The goal is to eliminate overcrowding in the cafeteria and decrease lunch line wait times.

Dismissal for the high school is currently at 2:26 p.m. but next year this will change to 1:59 p.m. This is where Tiger Time will be introduced Tuesday through Friday, running from 2:04 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., to allow students to see teachers for extra help, lab makeups, and gym class makeups. Those with assigned detentions are required to stay from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Students who do not need to use Tiger Time will be dismissed at 1:59 p.m. and the buses will begin picking students up at 2:25 p.m. Students who use the buses or participate in after-school activities outside of Tiger Time are required to wait in the staff-supervised cafeterias to wait for their buses or for their activity to begin.

Snacks will be provided during the wait. Everyone who doesn't need to use the bus or wait for an after-school activity will be dismissed at dismissal times.
