Moment McDonald’s worker ‘shoots at drive-thru customers complaining about wrong order’
A McDonald’s was captured on surveillance video appearing to open fire at drive-thru customers because they complained about a wrong order.
Chassidy Gardner, 22, and customers at the fast food restaurant on East Memorial Boulevard in Florida got into a dispute after customers ‘felt their order was incorrect’, stated the Lakeland Police Department on Facebook.
CCTV shows Gardner speaking to customers and then slamming the window and walking away. She returns shortly after to pour a drink out the window and shuts the window again.
But a customer is seen opening the window from the outside, grabbing some drink cups and throwing them at Gardner.
Gardner returns with a white tote in her left hand and a gun in her right hand and looks out the window.
After customers throw more items, Gardner is seen leaving the kitchen area.
A clip form outside the eatery shows Gardner walking out of the restaurant at a normal pace, as another employee follows her. They both disappear from the frame.
Gardner is then recorded walking with a gun still in her hand, alongside the other worker, and they both reenter the restaurant.
Cops responded to gunfire at the McDonald’s around 1am on Friday.
Gardner was arrested after allegedly shooting at customers as they were driving out of the parking lot, police said. No one was injured, but the customers’ vehicle was struck at least once.
She has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Lanny Sumpter, owner of the Lakeland franchise, said Gardner was ‘terminated following a number of organizational policy violations’.
‘The safety and wellbeing of my customers and crew is paramount to me as a business owner, and I am shocked and disturbed by the actions of this employee,’ Sumpter told The Independent. ‘Violence of any kind is never tolerated in my organization.’
It is the latest violent episode at a McDonald’s in the Sunshine State.
In April, a customer at a McDonald’s in Zephyrhills allegedly shot a Good Samaritan who tried to intervene in a dispute with an drive-thru employee over his order missing sauce.
