Report: Spurs are ‘seriously interested’ in prolific forward but will have to wait until July

According to GiveMeSport, Tottenham Hotspur have far from abandoned their pursuit of Ivan Toney and are continuing to plot a move for the Brentford star.

However, it was revealed that the offer had been sent back by Brentford, who were demanding £65m for their star man, even though he only has a year left on his contract.

GiveMeSport have now rubbished that report, claiming that no offer has been sent by the Lilywhites for Toney so far.

However, it is explained that Tottenham do hold a ‘genuine interest’ in the striker and could make a formal offer for his services later in the transfer window.

The report claims that the idea is for the England international to offer competition to Richarlison for his place in the starting eleven.

The publication adds that Spurs have not engaged in active discussions with the Bees regarding the 28-year-old but are continuing to keep tabs on the player’s situation.
