Rickey Boudreaux, who retired as Youngsville police chief, is running to get the job back
YOUNGSVILLE, La. (KLFY) -- Former Youngsville Police Chief Rickey Boudreaux, who retired abruptly last year citing health reasons, has announced he's running for the post in November in a Facebook post Wednesday.
"Today I am pleased to announce my Candidacy for Chief of Police for the city of Youngsville," he posted. "I do not and will not take this responsibility lightly. I am returning to finish the job that you the citizens of Youngsville elected me to do, MAKE YOUNGSVILLE THE SAFEST CITY in LOUISIANA."
Boudreaux will be running against the person who replaced him on an interim basis, Cody Louviere, who announced his candidacy for the job earlier this week.
Boudreaux retired Aug. 21, 2023 saying at the time that “Five heart attacks, ten stents and the constant stress of this job has taken its toll.”
He said his health problems are now behind him.
"Today I am excited to say after receiving the Proper Medical Care I feel better than I have in the last 15 years," Boudreaux posted. "I am ready to take the Department back over as your Chief and move the Department in the right direction. Today I am humbly asking for and need your vote to accomplish the goals that were put into Place. As I have said in jest who better to replace me as chief than me??"
At the time of his retirement, Boudreaux was the target of an investigation, which he has tried to quash, by the Youngsville City Council. He also faced allegations of harassing and intimidating a subordinate.
