I was stunned when my neighbour asked me to give up my parking space – she doesn’t even need to use it
A HOMEOWNER was left stunned when her neighbour asked her to give up her parking space – even though they weren’t going to use it.
The frustrated driver even offered a compromise, which was apparently rejected.
Posting on Reddit, the unnamed motorist recounted her struggles with her neighbour Susan.
They explained that they live in a converted maisonette, so share a driveway with Susan featuring one bay for each of the two properties.
However, Susan apparently uses her home as a base for her business, meaning she is regularly visited by clients.
The resident wrote: “The entrance to the parking space is very small and on Susan’s side.
“So when she has clients come through, more often than not, they block the entire driveway, almost blocking the whole sidewalk.
“When this happens i knock on her door or text requesting her customers move forward.
“She started the conversation by requesting me park on the street during her business hours so she doesn’t have to “police” her clients.”
They then explained that Susan operates her business between 12pm and 6pm Monday through Saturday, while they work more normal hours of 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.
And yet, she claimed, Susan demanded that she give up use of her space even on her day off.
While many would have simply refused, the social media user said that she had offered a compromise, where she would park on the road during normal business hours but not on the weekend.
But this, apparently, was still not good enough for Susan as she then allegedly demanded that the other resident buy signage to advertise her business.
They went on: “She wanted me to buy the sign and after getting her own sign.
“She kept bringing up how it’s not working.
“At this point, i was over the whole situation and told her to stop bringing it up with me because it’s not my responsibility to tell her clients how to use her parking space properly.”
Commenters were quick to assure her that she was very much in the right.
One wrote: “Perhaps you should buy a sign that says ‘Resident parking only’.”
Another added: “Check with the landlord if she can run a customer-facing business from her house.”
It comes after another homeowner was baffled to wake up and find someone else parked on their drive – only to dish out some cunning revenge.
