Jessica Biel Might Feel Burned About Giving Justin Timberlake a 'Second Chance' in Their Marriage
It’s been less than two weeks since Justin Timberlake was arrested for a DWI in Sag Harbor, New York, but his very public moment might have triggered something in his marriage to Jessica Biel. It was just five years ago when the former *NSYNC star was caught on camera engaging in flirtatious behavior with his Palmer co-star, Alisha Wainwright — and it tested his marriage to Biel.
“He begged Jessica for a second chance, and she gave it to him,” an insider shared with In Touch. “But five years later, he still can’t seem to control himself when he’s partying.” Timberlake is due back in court on July 26, and he claimed that he only had “one martini.” However, the police report, obtained by People, noted that the 43-year-old singer had “performed poorly on all standardized field sobriety tests” and had “eyes [that] were bloodshot and glassy, a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was emanating from his breath, he was unable to divide attention, he had slowed speech, he was unsteady afoot.”
According to the In Touch source, Biel “can’t take much more of this behavior” because she’s been subjected to his bad choices more than once over the years. The “SexyBack” singer has weathered through controversies and apologies with Janet Jackson and Britney Spears that go back two decades — and it’s taken him a long time to be accountable for his behavior. But in 2019, he owed his wife the biggest apology of them all because Biel was home pregnant with their second son while he was getting caught on camera in New Orleans.
Timberlake made a strong statement after his Wainwright encounter, writing on Instagram, “A few weeks ago I displayed a strong lapse in judgement (sic) – but let me be clear – nothing happened between me and my costar. I drank way too much that night and regret my behavior. I should have known better. This is not the example I want to set for my son. I apologize to my amazing wife and family for putting them through such an embarrassing situation and am focused on being the best husband and father I can be. This was not that.”
This time around, his lawyer Edward Burke Jr. is doing most of the talking, “[We] look forward to vigorously defending Mr. Timberlake against these allegations. He will have a lot to say at the appropriate time,” he said to In Touch. While the outlet has one source saying Biel is upset behind closed doors, People‘s insider is doubling down on the idea that she’s standing by her man. “They’ve moved on from the arrest. They have faith in their legal team and continue to focus on work and their family instead.” The truth probably lies somewhere in-between.
