QPR plan transfer raid on French side Metz but could be scuppered by Euro 2024 star getting move first

QPR are targeting Metz ace Simon Elisor – but will have to table a significant offer with the French side set to lose Euro 2024 star Georges Mikautadze.

Elisor, 24, spent the second half of last season at Troyes and impressed with six goals as well as one assist in 18 appearances.

SunSport understands the striker’s displays in Ligue 2 caught the eye of QPR who have already enquired about his availability.

The Hoops are looking to hold talks with Metz about the Frenchman’s contract details and his wages.

The Championship outfit have also asked about Elisor’s release clause during this summer transfer window.

However, Metz are highly likely to lose their star centre-forward Mikautadze, 23, who almost saved them from relegation last term with 13 goals and four assists in 20 Ligue 1 appearances.

The Georgia international is now shining bright at Euro 2024 where he has scored three goals as well as one assist in the group stage.

The forward and star team-mate Khvicha Kvaratskhelia led the national team to the last 16 for the first time in the country’s history.

Monaco, Lyon and Lens have expressed interest for Mikautadze, who rejoined Metz from Ajax in January initially on loan before the French outfit paid €13million (£11m) to make his move permanent.

Now the Ligue 2 side are looking to turn a profit amid the Georgian’s heroics in Germany.

That is why QPR will have to make a “very good offer” for Elisor to convince Metz to let another striker go after their recent relegation.

The forward has a contract with Metz until 2026 following his move from Seraing in 2023.

The Frenchman enjoyed some impressive stints with Villefranche and Stade Lavallois before moving to Metz.

Elisor scored 18 goals in 37 appearances for Villefranche as well as eight goals in 21 appearances for Laval.
