Brentford have bid rejected for Archie Gray
Since The Athletic revealed that Brentford had agreed personal terms and organised a medical with Archie Gray for a deal ‘in the region of £35 million’, there have been plenty of twists and turns.
Gray did undergo a medical with The Bees on Saturday evening however both Sky Sports and The Athletic announced the following morning that Leeds had since rejected the offer due to a lack of agreement over the payment structure.
Leeds are reported to not need ‘anywhere near £100m in exits’ but do believe that Gray’s fee would ‘allay’ their PSR fears with the deadline being Sunday (30/6/24) (Ben Jacobs).
Tottenham, who have been ‘exploring the situation for months’ are widely reported to now be in talks for Gray. (The Athletic)
Tottenham ‘confident’ on getting Archie Gray deal done
Fabrizio Romano has offered further information on Spurs pursuit of Gray on X, claiming the club have ‘made contact with Leeds United’ with a ‘verbal proposal already sent’. Romano confirmed that Gray himself is ‘keen on the move’ with Spurs having the ‘green light’ from the 18-year-old.
Tottenham correspondent for Football.London, Alasdair Gold, has also tweeted about the move explaining that Spurs are indeed ‘trying to get a deal done’ for the breakout Leeds United star, although continuing to state that the deal is currently at the ‘very early stages’.

It appears that Tottenham are certainly seeking to complete a deal for Gray now with various reliable sources confirming Spurs’ talks with both the player and Leeds United.
The most encouraging aspect that has been revealed is how the player is ‘keen’ for the move. Gray would presumably not be comfortable with the move if he knew he would simply warm the bench or wasn’t brought into the Ange Postecoglou project at Tottenham.
