BBC Breakfast star returns to show after vanishing from screens and co-star promising they’d be ‘back together soon’

SALLY Nugent has made a comeback on BBC Breakfast after disappearing from screens.

The presenter, 52, was absent from the morning news programme two days in a row last week.

Sarah Campbell, who also works with BBC News, filled in during Sally’s absence on both Monday and Tuesday’s episodes.

Despite not being on air, Sally remained active on social media.

She recently took to Instagram to reshare a nostalgic post from her make-up artist, Patrick Bartley.

The photo, taken a year ago, features Sally enjoying a sunny holiday with Channel 4’s Steph McGovern and BBC News journalist Lizzie Simmons-Wood.

All four media personalities sported smiles and sunglasses in the Marbella snap.

Now Sally has been welcomed back to BBC Breakfast for her regular news segment.

However, some viewers were left disgruntled by her interview with Labour MP Jonathan Ashworth.

One person questioned: “Is Sally Nugent tired? Not a great interview with Ashworth.”

Another added: “That interview with John Ashworth by Sally Nugent was hopeless. Why didn’t she tackle some of his comments?”

Before her unexpected absence, Sally hosted the show on Monday and Wednesday of the previous week.

She also appeared in a pre-recorded interview on Friday with Lindsey Burrow, wife of the late Rob Burrow.

In the touching segment, Lindsey discussed her late husband, their relationship, and their family.

Sally Nugent was friends with the former professional rugby player, and paid a heartbreaking tribute to him after he died from motor neurone disease.
