Serena Williams & Alexis Ohanian Are MIA on Each Other's Instagram Pages & Fans Are Worried
Last year was filled with major celebrity breakups — from Sofía Vergara and Joe Manganiello to Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas — A-list stars were calling it quits. While 2024 has been a bit quieter (Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck pending), fans are a bit worried about Serena Williams and Alexis Ohanian.
The dynamic duo, who share daughters Alexis Olympia, 6, and Adira River, 10 months, have been oddly quiet about each other on Instagram lately. The retired tennis player noticeably went solo to the Vanity Fair Oscars party in March and the Met Gala in May, events they normally attend together. The last snapshot of her with Ohanian goes back to the birth announcement of Adira in August 2023.
Ohanian has the same birth announcement snapshot pinned to the top of his Instagram feed, but he’s more active in keeping his wife on his feed. There’s a May 17 post about collecting her rare trading cards, but fans will have to go back to Dec. 2, 2023, to see an image of Williams with their daughters — and he’s in the far background. The couple of almost seven years last attended a red-carpet event together on Oct. 20, 2023, for the opening of Casadonna restaurant in Miami. However, the athlete only posted a snapshot of herself alone instead of with Ohanian.
The 42-year-old superstar hasn’t been photographed wearing her wedding ring either. For an athlete, it might not be an everyday occurrence to wear their jewelry, but it’s been a long time since that ring was on her finger. Are we being paranoid or is there something else going on? Where were the Mother’s Day and Father’s Day posts? Some celebrities are moving away from social media, so that could explain it — but they both seem rather active on their accounts, just not with each other.
Williams has been vocal about her success in the tennis world often being isolating. “It definitely can be lonely at the top. In particular, tennis,” she said on The Business of Feelings podcast in November 2022. “People don’t realize how many hours you spend by yourself. So much so that it was hard for me in a relationship, because I am so used to being alone every single minute and day of my life that it’s like, ‘Well, I can’t even be around people.’ And a lot of people don’t realize that.” Let’s hope Williams and Ohanian are doing OK, and their social media absence is much ado about nothing.
