New Delhi: Upon their return from Barbados on July 4, the triumphant Indian T20 World Cup-winning team met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence in New Delhi. The team returned to India on a charter flight and shortly after that met with the Prime Minister, who congratulated them on their triumph.
At the meet-and-greet session, several clips were played, and Modi engaged with multiple players, discussing various captivating aspects of the exciting final.
During the meeting that lasted more than an hour, Modi expressed happiness over India’s win and how the team fought back from crunch situations.
He inquired Sharma about the taste of Mud, jesting about the skipper’s memorable moment of putting a piece of turf in his mouth after the win. As Kohli had faced a dry spell leading up to the final, the Prime Minister was curious about his mindset before the crucial match. Axar was also questioned about his feelings when promoted during the team’s critical moment in the final.
South Africa appeared poised for victory, needing 30 runs from 30 deliveries with Heinrich Klaasen and David Miller confidently steering the chase.
