'Bitter old man': Trump shredded for egocentric and rambling July 4th rant
Former President Donald Trump kicked off the Fourth of July with a lengthy screed on Truth Social praising himself and lobbing insults at President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris — barely mentioning anything at all about the founding of the country or any of its values.
"Happy Fourth of July to all, including to our highly incapable 'President,' who uses Prosecutors to go after his Political Opponent, who choked like a dog during the Debate but tried to pretend it was 'International Travel' (only 12 days rest!) and, when that gig was up, he blamed it on a 'cold,'" Trump wrote.
He went on to suggest that "Laffin' Kamala Harris," who has been floated by some as the likeliest replacement for Biden at the top of the ticket if he decides to step aside, was only "highly talented" in moving up through politics via her romantic involvement with Willie Brown. And he finished it off with a rant against "corrupt" special counsel Jack Smith, who is prosecuting two criminal cases against him.

Commenters on social media were swift to react to the outburst.
"Welcome to the future, subjects," wrote Never Trump strategist and Lincoln Project co-founder Rick Wilson.
"Trump only attacks the people he fears," added David Rothkopf.
"Bitter, twisted, vengeful old man. Seriously disgraceful, bitter, and mean. Happy 4th of July to real and honest Patriots," wrote X user @sandiechill.
"This makes '1984' look like Club Med," wrote the X user @NoFear_DogHere.
"Nobody hates America like Trump hates America," wrote the X user @FxForceFive.
"Speaking of legend in his own mind. Donald must of heard that about himself recently and it’s sticking in his craw," wrote the account @MtnGrl4.
"He is really a disgusting, petty and pathetic little man," wrote the account @TomBrice16.
"how can he be nominated, how can this be such a fight to keep him from getting elected? And why is he still a free man? I really don't get it."
