‘Anything can happen’ – Serie A club director opens up on negotiations with Spurs
Genoa sporting director Marco Ottolini has now confirmed that the club have been unable to reach an agreement with Tottenham regarding Djed Spence but he left the door open for the move later in the window.
Djed Spence to Genoa looks difficult for now
Over the last two weeks, it has emerged that Spence’s proposed permanent transfer to Genoa could collapse as Tottenham want at least €7m (£6m) for the right back, which Alberto Gilardino’s side are not willing to pay (Sacha Tavolieri).
La Repubblica (via CalcioGirona) even asserted that the Serie A side are ready to turn their attention to other alternatives such as Napoli right-back Alessandro Zanoli due to Spurs’ refusal to lower their price.
BBC Sport journalist Nizaar Kinsella revealed on Wednesday that while Genoa have not given up on Spence yet, Tottenham are ready to offer the player to other clubs.
Anything can happen in Djed Spence pursuit
Ottolini has now addressed the Italian’s side pursuit of the 23-year-old, refusing to rule out a potential deal later in the window.
When asked about the Spence deal, the Genoa director said (via Fabrizio Romano): “Anything can happen with 55 days ahead of us.
“At the moment, there’s no agreement with Spurs and no conditions to make it happen.”

I do not see Tottenham lowering their demands for Spence as the right-back is likely to be of interest to few English clubs.
For this move to be back on, it is Genoa who have to come back to the negotiating table and increase their offer.
