'Who the hell knows anymore?' Legal experts stunned by Trump's latest court argument

Donald Trump's lawyers' latest filing demanding Florida Judge Aileen Cannon pause his classified documents case based on the Supreme Court's presidential immunity ruling has legal experts stunned.

The lawyers Friday asked for a "stay of pending resolution" in the federal court case brought by special counsel Jack Smith, who contends Trump violated the Espionage Act by storing classified documents in Mar-a-Lago, his Florida social club.

National security lawyer Bradley P. Moss was unimpressed by the argument but admitted he had no idea how Cannon would rule.

"Immunity only relevant if Cannon concludes the mere act of removing the documents to Florida, in and of itself, constituted an official act," Moss replied. "Doubtful but who the hell knows anymore."

"I’m shocked, I tell you! Shocked!" shouted civil rights lawyer Andrew C. Laufer, his digital voice dripping with sarcasm.

"Dude, she better know it's 5 Justices that make controlling precedent for lower courts (not some rando concurrence of one)," said law professor Ciara Torres-Spelliscy.

Another X user called the filing "absurd legal arguments."

X user Joyce Owen commented, "Next step is for Trump to gets a Sharpie and draw her a map so she can avoid any Florida hurricanes."

One influencer known only as Outspoken, wrote, "Cannon will most likely stay the case for Trump."

Trump has 37 counts against him 37 counts against him and six against his aide Walt Nauta. Those counts include willfully retaining national defense information in violation of the Espionage Act, making false statements, obstruction of justice, and conspiracy to obstruct justice.
