Game Chat: Braves vs. Reds, 1:10 PM
After a huge day for the Mets on Tuesday in which they were the only Wild Card contender to win, it was much different on Wednesday, with all four teams fighting for the NL spots getting a victory. The San Diego Padres hold the first Wild Card spot at 2.5 games over the Diamondbacks and the Mets, and the Braves are two games behind Arizona and New York. The Mets hold the tiebreaker with the D-Backs, putting them in the second WC spot to start Thursday.
The Mets start a tough four-game series on Thursday at 7:15 p.m. ET with the NL-leading Phillies. Former Met Taijuan Walker goes for the Phillies against Luis Severino for the Mets. The D-Backs also start at 7:15, with a game in Milwaukee, and the Padres have the night off before hosting the White Sox this weekend.
ATLANTA BRAVES (82-70) at CINCINNATI REDS (74-79)
LH Chris Sale (17-3, 2.35) vs. RH Julian Aguiar (2-0, 4.88)
Game No. 153 • Road Game No. 78
Sept. 19, 2024 • 1:10 p.m. • Great American Ball Park • Cincinnati, OH
The Braves are desperate for a win and have likely 2024 NL Cy Young Award winner Chris Sale on the mound. The Braves beat the Reds 7-1 on Wednesday behind six innings of one-run ball by Spencer Schwellenbach.
