For some of the bigger Premier League clubs selling on young players on and industrial scale who never get within a million miles of the first team earns a small fortune in itself.

And I suppose you could make the argument that even if the other ten don’t get anywhere near the first team if a gem comes out of such a team as the u21 sides that play in this tournament then it all becomes worthwhile. See Kobbie Mainoo at Man Utd, who was playing in this competition just last season IIRC.
