Nawab Malik of the Nationalist Congress Party is confident of winning the Mankhurd-Shivaji Nagar assembly seat. Despite opposition from BJP and Shiv Sena Shinde faction due to his alleged links with fugitive gangster Dawood Ibrahim, Malik remains undeterred. He will contest as an independent candidate after being denied a ticket by NCP. Maharashtra Assembly elections are scheduled for November 20.
