9 citizens of Afghanistan released from Pakistani prisons
The Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation of Afghanistan has announced that nine Afghan citizens were released from Pakistani prisons by Interpol police and have returned to Afghanistan.
The ministry issued a statement saying that these individuals entered the country on Tuesday, October 29 through the Torkham border crossing.
The statement cited the reason for their arrest as “lack of legal residency documents.”
According to the ministry, these Afghan migrants were imprisoned for periods ranging from six months to one year.
Previously, the Taliban consulate in Karachi reported the release of 15 Afghan citizens, including children, from the city’s prisons.
According to the ministry’s statistics, more than 900 Afghan citizens are currently detained in various prisons in Sindh province, Pakistan.
The recent surge in arrests and deportations of Afghan migrants from Pakistan due to a lack of legal documentation has heightened concerns about the treatment of Afghan refugees.
Many detained migrants face prolonged detention and uncertain futures amid strained diplomatic relations.
