One Big Takeaway From Bruins’ Dominant Win Against Kraken
BOSTON — After shutting out the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday, the Bruins dominated the Seattle Kraken in their first back-to-back tilt of the season.
Boston scored two first-period goals at TD Garden and defeated Seattle 2-0 to improve to 6-6-1 on the season.
The Bruins checked off three boxes in this game that head coach Jim Montgomery has been preaching since the beginning of the season.
Started on time — check.
Execution — check.
Effort — check.
The Black and Gold wasted no time getting on the board when Justin Brazeau redirected a Nikita Zadorov shot from the point at 3:23 of the first period to give Boston an early 1-0 lead.
Six minutes later, the Bruins got a boost on the power play with an absolutely beautifully patient tally by Charlie Coyle for his second of the season.
The Bruins dominated puck possession — holding the Kraken to just three shots in the first period, all of which came with under four minutes to play in the opening frame.
Boston thought they had taken a 3-0 lead in the first when Pavel Zacha put the puck in the net behind Seattle goaltender Joey Daccord, but the Kraken challenged the play for offsides.
After the review, the referees deemed Zacha preceded the puck into the zone and the call on the ice was overturned to keep the game at 2-0.

Video review determined that Boston’s Pavel Zacha preceded the puck into the offensive zone and was in an off-side position prior to his goal. According to Rule 38.9, “The standard for overturning the call in the event of a “GOAL” call on the ice is that the NHL Situation Room, after reviewing any and all available replays and consulting with the On-Ice Official(s), determines that one or more Players on the attacking team preceded the puck into the attacking zone prior to the goal being scored and that, as a result, the play should have been stopped for an “Off-Side” infraction; where this standard is met, the goal will be disallowed.”
