Luckily, savvy shoppers have until 11.59pm tonight to sign up for either of the plans meaning they can book in a slot tomorrow.

Those who aren’t signed up to a delivery or click and collect plan will be able to book in a festive slot from 6am next Tuesday (November 12).

Tesco delivery plans start from £3.99 a month and range up to £7.99 a month while the click and collect plan costs £2.49 a month.

If you’re a regular shopper, you can save money by opting for a delivery plan.

Tesco says a 12-month Anytime Delivery plan, costing £6.99 a month, can save you £176 a year based on a shop a week.

It come as the supermarket chain adds a further 60 more delivery vans to its fleet for the festive period.

Tesco will also offer thousands more slots on Christmas Eve this year via its Whoosh service.

The delivery service lets shoppers order food and have it delivered to their homes within 20 to 60 minutes.

Tom Denyard, managing director of Tesco Online said: “As we help customers plan ahead for their Christmas shop this year, we want customers to know that time is running out to sign up for a Delivery Saver Anytime Plan and benefit from festive priority slot bookings which go live tomorrow morning.

“We’re looking forward to helping customers across the UK pick up their family favourites or treat themselves to something special this festive season.”

It’s worth bearing in mind, you only get early access to Christmas slots tomorrow if you sign up to Tesco’s anytime delivery plan, or click and collect plan.

You won’t get early access if you sign up to its off peak delivery plan.

It’s also worth bearing in mind, you shouldn’t sign up for a delivery or click and collect pass just to get access to Christmas slots earlier.

Only do so if you will shop at Tesco on a regular basis and can make the most of the passes.

What is Delivery Saver?

Tesco Delivery Saver passes let you pay a flat fee either monthly for six months or 12 months.

An anytime delivery plan costs £6.99 per month for 12 months and gives you priority access to click and collect slots and Christmas home delivery.

You can also pay £7.99 per month for six months.

Customers can also sign up for an off peak delivery plan which costs £3.99 a month for 12 months or £4.99 a month for six months.

How to save money on Christmas shopping

Consumer reporter Sam Walker reveals how you can save money on your Christmas shopping.

Limit the amount of presents – buying presents for all your family and friends can cost a bomb.

Instead, why not organise a Secret Santa between your inner circles so you’re not having to buy multiple presents.

Plan ahead – if you’ve got the stamina and budget, it’s worth buying your Christmas presents for the following year in the January sales.

Make sure you shop around for the best deals by using price comparison sites so you’re not forking out more than you should though.

Buy in Boxing Day sales – some retailers start their main Christmas sales early so you can actually snap up a bargain before December 25.

Delivery may cost you a bit more, but it can be worth it if the savings are decent.

Shop via outlet stores – you can save loads of money shopping via outlet stores like Amazon Warehouse or Office Offcuts.

They work by selling returned or slightly damaged products at a discounted rate, but usually any wear and tear is minor.
