KDOL says seasonal layoffs could explain hold times
TOPEKA (KSNT) - The Kansas Department of Labor says seasonal layoffs could explain increases in call volume.
Along with seasonal layoffs, KDOL said system upgrades will prompt the department to be down later this month. According to call data from the Kansas Unemployment Insurance Weekly Review, KDOL received 734 calls last week.
On Nov. 19, KDOL will be rolling out the Unemployment Insurance Technology Enhancement project meant to improve the unemployment insurance experience for employers and claimants. The upgraded systems aim to simplify the reporting process. A webpage will be continuously updated with information for employers and claimants.
Dates to remember:
- The Employer Services portal will be unavailable starting at 5 p.m. on Nov. 13 and will reopen at 8 a.m. on Nov. 19.
- The Unemployment Contact Center and getkansasbenefits.gov site will be unavailable starting at 5 p.m. on Nov. 13 and will reopen at 8 a.m. on Nov. 19.
- To receive a benefit payment for the week of Nov. 3-9, active claimants must file a weekly certification during the following time period:
- Noon on Nov. 10 through 5 p.m. Nov. 13.
8 a.m. on Nov. 19 through 11:59 p.m. on Nov. 23
- Noon on Nov. 10 through 5 p.m. Nov. 13.
The KDOL recommends claimants call first thing in the morning and says Mondays typically have a high call volume. The KDOL's hours are:
- Monday-Wednesday: 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.
- Thursday 8 a.m. – 3:15 p.m.
- Friday 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.
