Patriots Insider Speculates Fascinating Move For Alex Van Pelt

That’s why Alex Van Pelt is the presumed favorite to get fired after the regular season ends. There’s no confirmation that this is the case, and multiple players, including Drake Maye, defended the offensive coordinator amid the unit’s struggles.
Nick Cattles on “Zolak & Bertrand” on Thursday offered up the idea of Van Pelt taking a demotion to become the quarterbacks coach in order to bring on someone like Brian Daboll to lead the offense. NBC Sports Boston’s Phil Perry didn’t dismiss the idea and believed it could be a possibility. He noted that those around the league praised Van Pelt as a stand-up individual and his lack of ego could lead him to take a demotion if he meant helping out Maye.
It would be an unprecedented move, one that would shake up other parts of the Patriots staff. However, New England doesn’t want to repeat the same mistakes it made with Mac Jones, so there could be something drastic done to ensure Maye is given the proper support he needs.
