New Red Bull football boss Klopp in stands for Paris FC match

Former Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund manager Klopp has started a new role with Red Bull which owns Bundesliga club RB Leipzig, Austrian team Salzburg and New York Red Bulls.

Klopp happily posed for selfies alongside Pierre Ferracci, the president of the Parisian club which was sold to the family of France's richest person Bernard Arnault and Red Bull two months ago.

And watched by the German coach at Stade Charlety, Paris FC got back on track after consecutive defeats, beating Amiens 1-0 to reclaim top spot in Ligue 2.

Since the takeover of the club by the Arnault family and Red Bull, Paris FC had just one win in eight matches in all competitions.

"It was important to get back to winning ways," said coach Stephane Gilli, clearly amused by the number of journalists at the press conference.

"Who are all these people? Are they here to watch the match?"

On Sunday, Klopp will visit the club's training centre in Orly, in the southern Paris suburbs.

"I have to see him tomorrow," Gilli confirmed.

"Exchanging with one of the best coaches in the world is always interesting."

Klopp is due to speak for the first time since taking up his new job on Tuesday at Red Bull's headquarters near Salzburg in Austria.

The 57-year-old won back-to-back Bundesliga titles with Dortmund before moving to Liverpool. At the Reds, Klopp won several major trophies, including the Champions League and Premier League.

Klopp's appointment has however caused controversy, particularly in Germany where some fans are critical of the energy drink brand's ownership of Leipzig, as well as multi-club models in general.
