United Airlines Suddenly Cancels All Flights to Dubai
Last week, United Airlines abruptly suspended all flights to the Tel Aviv Airport as a result of the escalating conflict between Israel and Iran, which has included ongoing missile strikes on Tel Aviv, Israel. Now, United is canceling all flights to an even busier airport in the area.
On Thursday, United Airlines suddenly announced that it was canceling all of its daily flights between New Jersey's Newark Liberty International Airport and the Dubai International Airport in the United Arab Emirates.
According to CBS News, United said the decision was "due to conflict in the region." The airline did not say when flights between the two destinations might resume.
It's worth noting that United only flies to Dubai through Newark Airport, so with this decision, United has abruptly ended all flights to the airport, which is one of the largest and busiest hubs and airports in the Middle East.
Obviously, this is a pretty significant move from the airline, which will impact a lot of passengers looking to travel to the Middle East.
It's also worth noting that, in addition to serving as a major hub in the area, Dubai is a major vacation and tourist destination, so this abrupt cancellation could impact a lot of summer travel plans.
This move came less than a week after United Airlines and Delta Air Lines canceled all of their flights into Ben Gurion International Airport in Tel Aviv, which is another major hub in the area.
"United will continue to monitor the situation and will work to assist our customers through this disruption," United wrote in a statement last week.
We'll have to see how the conflict in the area continues to impact travel.
